Lay the petals (5/3/87)

Lay the petals
from your flowers
in the shallow
of God's hand;
For once
the blooms have fallen
only he
can form another bud
leaving seed
as somewhat
for someone
to remember;
Paper white
sometimes.
Trust to him
your heart
as the pureness
of his own blood
flows
through it's depth;
Like the wind
so freely blows
to a calm
caressence
of a smile;
Sending rain
as tears;
Leaves
to shadow
the stained face
of love;
Silenced
in ebony
waiting
a born season;
Crying
as touches render;
And take this hand
dear God
as I have seen you bless
and lay it
as tender
upon a heart
with so fierce a love
dawn's sun
will rise
in every eye.
